Visiting Our Schools
We love welcoming families, volunteers and community members into our buildings! To keep our schools safe and secure, here are a few reminders for every visit.
All exterior doors at our K–12 buildings and the Early Childhood Center remain closed and locked during the school day.
Doors should never be propped open or left unlocked unless they are being actively monitored by a staff member.
Entering and Exiting:
Staff and visitors should always make sure doors are shut tightly and latched securely as they enter or exit the building. In addition, when entering a building, resist the urge to hold open the door for anyone outside or allow an individual to catch a closing door and gain entry without permission of office staff.
Using the Intercom:
All visitors must use the intercom system at the entrance to announce who they are and the reason for their visit. Please always bring your Michigan ID or Driver License with you to display on the camera during entry. Often parents assume that office staff will recognize them; however, be aware that with subs in the office there is not a guarantee that this will be the case. Showing your ID allows staff to have a record of every individual who enters the building. If multiple visitors arrive at once, please wait to be called – each person can be assisted individually. Office staff may wait to see each person's needs before allowing the door to be released and entry be permitted. Please be patient during this process.
Dropping Off Items:
If you are dropping off something for your child (lunch, water bottle or homework), please label the item and leave it on the table or shelf in the vestibule as directed by office staff.
Check-In and Check-Out:
• Check in at the office as soon as you enter.
• Check out at the office when you leave, return your badge and exit promptly.
